So this morning I'm on line at the heimishe store, and the non-Jewish cashier has a radio playing.
Out comes Marvin Gaye, singing about "healing" - for all us frummies standing there.
I don't know if anybody else recognized the song, or if they were even listening, or what. But I just stood there, ho hum, bagging my groceries.
A part of me was terribly embarrassed. But another part was terribly amused.

I *love* that song! It's so great to hear that another frum person still maintains their musical tastes from their previous life. Have a wonderful Shavuot!!!

same thing happened to me when i heard the (practically pornographic!!) song "Hungry like the Wolf" ( do you remember Duran Duran? an emabarressing reminder on top 40-"Juices like wine , disco and rhyme, I'm on the hunt I'm after you, ....Yeah! Hungreh- like-a-wolf!!!!")ho-hum...standing on line with my mom and baby at Marshall's and at least 20 others, ho-hum- hmm, you don't notice the soft-porn music floating through our ears as easy listening, elevator style music...? oh,. okay, me neither...geuss I got really sensitive ?..
